Find College Grants for Military Spouses

Many military spouses already have it hard with having to be separated from their loved one for extended periods of time or having to move around to different and sometimes remote locations. These men and women can get a little relief though, if they are pursuing an education during the time their spouse in enlisted in the military. This helps take the financial burden of school off the non-military spouse and helps to ensure that both members of the family are happy, and are fulfilling their potential.

Each branch of the military has its own program and its own rules set aside for what qualifications the spouse must meet to get funding. Some will only donate money to a spouse, but others provide for children as well. Many will cover only tuition costs and the funds cannot be used for books, fees or living expenses.

The United States Army provides spouses of soldiers who are serving around the world with assistance through the Spouse Education Assistance Program. It does not provide a large amount of funding, but it can be helpful to offset some of the smaller educational costs students will incur. The Navy’s program is somewhat more generous and provides funding for both undergraduate and graduate level students through the Spouse Tuition Aid Program.

Other branches of the military, such as the Air Force can provide grant money not only for spouses but for children as well, helping the entire family increase their education and cover a lot of the costs associated with it. Spouses of those serving in the Coast Guard will The Coast Guard Mutual Assistance program which can provide a small amount that can be put towards any educational tuition expenses.
