Find Nursing College Grants

Nurses are in high demand these days as hospitals and medical centers all across the United States are experiencing shortages. Due to this, the number of scholarships and grants for nursing students has grown, making it much easier for students to cut the costs of their education while preparing for an exciting and rewarding nursing career. Whether you’re an undergraduate or graduate student there are a number of awards out there that can help you pay for your education.

Because nurses are in such short supply these days and can hardly fill the current demand, much less the growing need, most students will be able to qualify for some sort of nursing support. Programs offer funding both for students who have financial need and for those who stand out academically. This goes for both undergraduate students who are just starting out as well as for graduate students looking to grow or improve their knowledge of nursing.

A major source of funding for nursing students can be the federal government which has set up grants and scholarships through the Department of Health and Human Services and the Health Resources and Service Administration. These programs give out funds to students who have a financial need for assistance and also provide loan repayment programs for those who need additional assistance. State-run programs area available as well though many will require students to work in the state for a set amount of time in exchange for funding.

Students who are of a minority group may find additional opportunities for funding through government and private grant programs. These programs are designed to increase the number of all ethnicities in the nursing profession and to in general encourage students to pursue nursing careers. Not all grants offered by associations are for minorities and many specialty nursing groups provide a large amount of funding as well.
