Over the past few years the Hispanic population of the United States has grown to be the largest minority group. As a result of this rise in Hispanic students, the need for scholarships and financial assistance programs has grown. Students will now find that there are hundreds of scholarships that they can choose from to help lessen the financial burden of going to college and designed to encourage more students to pursue higher education.

Hispanic students from all backgrounds will be able to find scholarships that meet their needs with so many different companies and organizations offering funding. Many of the awards are based on the student’s GPA, a submitted essay or other measures that evaluate the student’s academic potential. Of course, not all awards are based solely on grades. Students who are from low income homes may be eligible for many scholarship programs that will allow them to afford a valuable college education.

There are many places where Hispanic students can find funding for college. In order to increase the number of Hispanics getting a college education and working in white-collar jobs, many Hispanic professional organizations offer scholarships, including the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting. Students should also look to large corporations for assistance as big names like Exelon, State Farm and Google offer scholarship programs. Aside from these, there are a number of government, state, university and private funds that are dedicated to Hispanic students each year that students shouldn’t hesitate to take advantage of.

Both Hispanic men and women will find a number of scholarships geared towards their needs. Students with specific career goals should note that there are a number of scholarships created to help increase minority interest in certain fields including finance, engineering and nursing.

Hispanic Scholarships

• Hispanic College Fund Scholarship Program: $1,000 to $5,000 awarded each year to 600-750 Hispanic undergraduate students.
• Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities Scholarship Programs: $500 to $3,000 awarded each year to up to 200 Hispanic undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in HACU associated college.
• First In My Family Scholarship Program: $500 to $5,000 given to 100-200 Hispanic undergraduate students.
• Lockheed Martin Scholarship Program: $500 to $5,000 is handed out each year varied number of Hispanic undergraduate students majoring in engineering and other related fields.
• The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Scholarship: $1,000 to $5,000 to a varied number of Hispanic undergraduate or graduate students.
• Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting Scholarship: $1,250 to $1,500 to 50 Hispanic students enrolled in a finance, accounting or business program.
