Find Left-Handed Scholarships
Many left handed students may have felt at a disadvantage their whole lives living in a world designed for right handed people. With thousands of lefties being injured each year in accidents with right-handed products, it seems like lefties just can’t catch a break. Luckily for a few exceptional left handed students out there, there is a silver lining to their left handedness through a scholarship program designed just for them.
With only 10% of the total population being left handed, lefties are the minority. For students who have pursued all other options for school funding taking advantage of their handedness can be a welcome opportunity. Because most products in everyday life are designed for those who are right handed or ambidextrous, some people consider left handedness to be a disability and as such it qualifies students for funding through this scholarship.
The Frederick and Mary F Buckley Scholarship offers up to $1,000 for a left-handed student enrolled at Juniata College. Students can be at the sophomore, junior or senior year of their studies. Students can use the money towards their education for the duration of their studies at the college, a welcome savings for those who might already have additional expenses associated with purchasing special left-handed products like scissors, keyboards and can openers.
Students should take heart, as the plight of the lefties is growing in recognition through the help of many famous left handed world leaders and many schools are working to equip their facilities with tools that are designed for both those who are right handed and those who are left handed. This scholarship can be a first step in making the world a little more lefty friendly.
