Benedictine University is committed to embracing its Roman Catholic foundations and the Benedictine tradition to help prepare students to be leaders both in their professional fields and in their communities. The school aims to create an educational environment that provides learning opportunities to students from a wide variety of backgrounds, needs and goals.

In 1887, a group of Chicago Benedictine monks wanted to help educate those in their community that were of Czech and Slovak decent and who were being discriminated against at other institutions. These men founded St. Procopius College, which went on to become what is today known as Benedictine University. Today located in Lisle, IL, the school educates those of a variety of nationalities, genders and religious backgrounds. The campus is composed of many modern facilities and offers students the chance to earn undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs both on campus and online.

Educational programs at Benedictine University are based on the traditions founded by St. Benedict and date all the way back to 528 AD. This educational philosophy encourages students to work as a community, to strive for the best in their schoolwork and to lead balanced lives that will help them to become well-rounded individuals and citizens. While the school embraces traditional values, it also looks forward, and was ranked as having one of the most diverse student bodies by U.S. News and World Report.

For those who are unable to attend on campus classes at Benedictine, there are many online options that can provide the same access to quality educational settings and resources. Students will enjoy small class sizes and personal attention from professors as well as 24/7 access to a dedicated support staff that can assist with any technical difficulties. Coursework is delivered through online discussion boards, chat rooms and interactive content, and students can work towards degrees like a Master of Business Administration from the comfort of their own homes.
