California Coast University aims to help both traditional and nontraditional students who are busy with work and familial commitments to further their educations and advance their careers. The school’s goal is to help them do this without giving up their current jobs and lifestyles. California Coast designs their programs so that distance learning can be a practical option for anyone wanting to improve their career or gain additional professional skills — no matter their schedule or financial situation.

The Santa Ana-based university was founded in 1973, and was designed from the beginning to be a distance learning institution, meaning there are no traditional classrooms for students to attend. All classes are taken online or through the mail. The school offers a variety of programs in this format to suit the wide-ranging needs of its students, and coursework is available in everything from management to psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

California Coast is dedicated to meeting the needs of students that are pursuing additional education mid-career. Classes are created to be flexible due to the busy work lives of students, and there are a variety of helpful financial assistance programs to aid students who may not otherwise be able to afford schooling. The university encourages students to see if their current employers will act as corporate sponsors and cover much of the cost of schooling to help remove some of the financial burden. Students can also rely on a supportive team of advisors and faculty that will help to guide them through choosing the best courses and programs to meet their educational goals.

Because classes at California Coast are offered in a distance learning format, students are able to work at their own pace and when it is most convenient for them. Coursework can be taken towards degrees in fields like psychology, education, management, health care and more. For some students who have extensive professional or military career training, life experience credit may be given, allowing students to more quickly earn their degrees and get on with their careers.
