CSU in Northridge designs its programs to maximize the potential of students and to help them more effectively reach their personal and professional goals. The school hopes to instill in students the creativity, critical thinking abilities, and ethical values they’ll need to be fully realized and successful individuals. Scholarship and excellence in teaching are top concerns of the school, and it strives to keep up with the latest research and technology.
Founded in 1958, the school started out as the San Fernando Valley State College due to its location, but changed names in 1972 to reflect its wider educational offerings. Today, the school is one of the largest schools in California, with thousands of students enrolled at its Northridge campus and online.
CSUN produces many graduates who go on to further education and professional success. The university is the second largest producer of Master’s graduates who go on to pursue higher lever degrees, becoming highly qualified and knowledgeable experts in their fields. Students will also enjoy highly ranked programs in engineering and computer science as well as the school’s proximity to the tech hotspot of Silicone Valley. NASA astronaut Scott Horowitz was a graduate of the school, as well as a number of well-known actors and actresses.
Tseng College is the online division of CSUN and specializes in continuing education offerings. Currently, the school only offers Master’s degrees online, but these can be a great way for working adults to gain the skills they need to advance or change careers. Online courses provide students with resources like financial aid, interactive coursework, online library resources, and increased flexibility to fit education into a busy schedule. Currently, the online program is still in development but offers degrees in some high-demand fields like Educational Leadership, Engineering Management, Instructional Design and Knowledge Management.
