Centenary College wants students to feel comfortable, and aids them by creating learning environments that reflect a large variety of learning styles and needs. Students will have access to caring faculty, the latest technology and a wide range of supportive academic services designed to make their academic experience as seamless and beneficial as possible. The school places emphasis not only on academic dedication in its students but also on community service and leadership as well, and encourages students to participate actively.

The United Methodist Church started Centenary College in 1867 because they wanted to give their community a preparatory school for local boys and girls. The school has grown a lot in the nearly 150 years since its founding. Now the school has a main campus in Hackettstown, New Jersey, as well as two other Adult Education centers located in Parsippany and MetroPark, New Jersey, and an online division.

As a Methodist school, Centenary College is not only concerned with the academic performance of its students. It also requires that they perform a certain amount of hours of community service in order to graduate. Students will work within the local Hackettstown community and surrounding areas to build relationships and foster a greater sense of community. Students will also get a chance to take their service overseas with study abroad programs offered in places like China, Japan, Spain and the UK.

Adult students who are working and taking courses will be able to more easily balance their studies with the rest of their lives with the flexibility provided by Centenary online. Students will work with faculty and other students to discuss relevant issues in their courses, complete projects and create a unified online learning community. Online programs use the Blackboard platform to administer coursework, and students will have access to tech support at any time if they have trouble with the online format. Both undergraduate and graduate programs are available, and students can choose from majors that include a wide variety of in-demand and interesting fields.
