Franklin Pierce University Program Review
Franklin Pierce University is a liberal arts university located in New Hampshire that strives to develop its students integrity, character, intellect, and professional promise. The school challenges its students in academic programs, extracurricular activities, athletic groups, community service projects, and in the day-to-day relationships and actions that drive the campus community. Franklin Pierce University has designed all of its curricula based on the theme of Individual and Community, stressing both self development and discovery, as well as respect for and service to a diverse, global community.
Franklin Pierce University is named in honor of Franklin Pierce, the 14th president of the United States, and the only U.S. president from New Hampshire. The school originally settled in the center of Rindge, NH, but in the 1960s, moved to an estate near Pearly Pond, an alleged “station” for the Underground Railroad. Franklin Pierce University’s location offers students all kinds of outdoor recreational activities, including fishing, swimming, hiking, skiing, camping, and sailing.
Academics at Franklin Pierce University include a full range of programs, including Pre-Health, Pre-Law, Sociology, Education, Anthropology/Archaeology, Criminal Justice, Art Education, English, Fine Arts, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Information Technology, Political Studies, and others. The school’s Global Citizenship Certificate combines in-class study, internships, study abroad experiences, and capstone seminars to give participating students a more complete understanding of different communities around the world. Areas of concentration include the Middle East, China, Japan, international marketing, comparative politics, women around the world, and more.
Franklin Pierce’s Graduate and Professional Studies department helps adult learners find the time to advance their careers and pursue additional academic training. GPS classes can be taken at campuses in Concord, Keene, Lebanon, Manchester and Portsmouth, NH, and online. Degrees are awarded in management, health care fields, education, leadership and nursing.
