Founded in 1895 by the Community of Christ, Graceland University is located in Lamoni, IA. Over 2,300 students are enrolled at Graceland, participating in 43 undergraduate majors and 60 different degrees. A second location in Independence, MO, hosts the School of Nursing, as well as Education and Seminary programs. Graceland also sponsors a satellite campus program, which brings Graceland classes to community colleges throughout the region, including Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, and North Central Missouri College, Trenton. Certain classes are also available to students around the world through a virtual campus.
Students can receive academic training in a variety of fields. Undergraduate programs are offered in areas like History, Information Technology, Business Administration, Publications Design, Sociology, Recreation, English, Elementary Education and more. Graduate programs are offered through the School of Education and the School of Nursing, and students at all levels are encouraged to participate in internships and clinical programs which help them gain important on-the-job training. Many of these graduate-level education and nursing degrees can also be completed online. Graceland’s Seminary degrees include a Master of Arts in Religion and a Master of Arts in Christian Ministries.
Graceland students, wherever they are located, are active in a number of fine arts, athletic, spiritual and academic activities. From theatre productions to sports like tennis and baseball, students are encouraged to continue their college experience outside the classroom. The school’s Christian values and commitment to creativity and scholarship fuel these programs, which connect students to faculty, staff, alumni, and the outside community.
