Jacksonville University strives to give students a traditional liberal arts education while exposing them to the leading edge skills, technologies and demands of an evolving, global community. Students at Jacksonville University have the freedom to explore different courses of academic study and future career goals through in-class discussions, group activities, service projects and internships with areas businesses. JU’s Engaged Learning program encourages students to direct their own experiences at school by collaborating on research projects and learning from other students, as well as taking advantage of the overall resources provided by both Jacksonville University and the Jacksonville community itself.

In 1934, Jacksonville University was founded in Jacksonville, FL, as a junior college for students wanting to take classes at night. The school soon began to offer traditional four-year degree programs, and in the early 1950s, the campus moved to its current location in the Arlington section of Jacksonville. The school sits on the St. John’s River across from downtown Jacksonville, giving students the valuable opportunity to benefit from an urban environment. Students come from all over the world to study at Jacksonville University, but most students are from Florida.
